The app in detail
Real screenshots from the app. No mockups โ this is what you'll actually see.

169+ progressive lessons from Year 2 to Year 6, aligned to the UK National Curriculum (Department for Education). Each lesson has 3 categories โ Core, Special and Challenge โ and 3 star levels to earn. Includes MTC preparation for Year 4. Progress unlocks step by step: no shortcuts, just solid learning.

Choose the operation you want โ Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division or Times Tables โ and practise freely. Complete exercises to earn MatCoin and unlock bonus mini-games.

The app guides the child digit by digit, starting from the ones. When the sum exceeds 9, the carry appears visually above the next column. Text hints explain each step: "7 + 8 = 15, write 5 and carry 1". Numbers from 1 to 4 digits, with and without decimals.

When the top digit is smaller, the app explains how to borrow from the next column. Colour highlighting for the digits involved, with clear messages: "You can't subtract 8 from 4 โ borrow from the tens". The column method, made understandable.

From times tables to 3-digit by 2-digit multiplication. The app breaks down the calculation: first multiply by the ones, then by the tens, then add the partial products. Every step is guided with hints like "8 x 5 = 40, write 0 in the ones and carry 4". Visual carries are built in.

Divisions are introduced with the bus stop method (short division) for 1-digit divisors, then progress to long division for 2-digit divisors. The app guides every step: divide, multiply, subtract, bring down the next digit. With dividends up to 5 digits, the child builds confidence before tackling harder problems.

From identifying fractions with pizza visuals to operations with different denominators. The app covers: identify, compare, order, add, subtract, multiply, divide, simplify, mixed numbers, equivalent fractions, fractions of a set and the number line. Each type is guided step by step with visual aids.

Parents or teachers create homework by choosing the operation, difficulty and number of exercises. The homework is encrypted and automatically published to the family group on Firestore. Children's devices receive it, decrypt it locally and display it. Results are uploaded encrypted and visible only to group members.

Guided lessons and homework generate detailed reports: operation performed, answer given, number of attempts and result. Free play is not tracked โ children are free to practise and make mistakes without supervision. Parents can print or share reports. In the Family section, reports are visible in real time with end-to-end encryption.
Report Analytics
Parents can analyse each child's performance in detail: charts, times tables, exercise distribution, frequent errors and an exportable PDF report. Simply select a profile to see their dedicated statistics.
Parent and child, each on their own device. The parent creates the homework: it is encrypted on the phone and published to the family group on Firestore. The child receives it on the tablet, completes it independently and the encrypted results are uploaded. The parent downloads and decrypts locally, views the report and accesses full analytics. No plaintext data ever passes through the server โ not even we can read it.
Features
It's not just a quiz. It's a complete learning path with guided instruction, independent practice, a homework system and a reward system that teaches the value of effort.
169+ progressive lessons from Year 2 to Year 6, aligned to the UK National Curriculum. Each lesson unlocks when the previous one is completed, with 3 levels of support: Guided, Practice and Challenge. Core, Special and Challenge lessons for each operation.
Parents or teachers create custom homework on addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions and times tables. The homework is encrypted and automatically distributed to group devices. The child completes it and the encrypted results are uploaded to Firestore. The parent decrypts them locally and views the detailed report.
Create a family group with parent and child roles. Up to 5 profiles per device. Data protected with AES-256-GCM end-to-end encryption. Parental PIN to protect parent sections. Monitor progress and assign homework.
Every correct answer earns MatCoin. Children accumulate them at their own pace โ no pressure, no timers โ and use them to access bonus mini-games. It teaches planning and the value of effort.
Balloons to pop and Shooting Stars to catch. Accessible with a few MatCoin after a series of exercises, or with a bigger effort for the special challenges.
Column operations don't just show the result โ they teach the method, step by step. With visual carrying, guided borrowing and Check of Nines built into division (Italian curriculum).
Lessons and homework tracked: operation, answer, attempts and outcome. Free play is never tracked. JSON export available (GDPR Art. 20). Your data stays yours, protected and never shared.
Four curricula aligned to official guidelines: MIUR (Italy), National Curriculum (United Kingdom), Common Core (United States) and LOMLOE (Spain). The app automatically adapts to the device language.
Beyond Maths
Not just calculations. Matematt teaches children essential life skills: planning, saving, and making mindful choices.
Every correct answer earns MatCoin. There is no way to buy them with real money โ they can only be earned through effort. The child decides how to spend them: a mini-game right away with a few coins, or save up for something bigger. No pressure, no timers, no stress. Just the satisfaction of building something through their own work.
1 MatCoin for every correct answer. Bonus for stars earned in lessons (10, 5 or 2 coins). Everything is earned through exercises โ nothing is bought.
Some games cost just a few coins โ just solve a handful of exercises. Others require a bigger effort: the child learns to decide whether to spend now or save for a bigger goal.
No countdown to spend. No penalties. MatCoin stay there until the child decides what to do with them. The system rewards consistency, not rushing.
The MatCoin system is not just a game mechanic. It's an educational tool designed to teach children skills they will use for the rest of their lives โ well beyond maths. These are real life skills that begin with simple choices in a safe environment and grow into habits that shape how children approach the world.
Curriculum
Four curricula, each aligned to the official guidelines of its country's education authority. The app automatically adapts to the device language.
209+ lessons from Classe I to Classe V, organised by progressive skills as set out by the Indicazioni Nazionali for primary school education.
169+ lessons from Year 2 to Year 6, aligned with the National Curriculum for Mathematics in England. Includes preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in Year 4.
145+ lessons from Grade 1 to Grade 5, inspired by the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSS-M), adopted by the majority of US states.
173+ lessons from Curso 1 to Curso 6, aligned with the LOMLOE and Real Decreto 157/2022 for Spanish Primary Education (Educaciรณn Primaria).

When the sum exceeds 9, carrying helps. Example: 47 + 38.
โThe top digit is smaller? Borrow from the next column. Example: 394 - 58.
โ๏ธMultiply by the ones, then the tens, then add. Example: 175 x 67.
โDivide, multiply, subtract, bring down. Example: 979 / 36.
Privacy
Children's privacy is not an afterthought. It is the principle on which the app was built, from the very first line of code.

Matematt is designed from the ground up for Data Protection by Default (Privacy by Design, Art. 25 GDPR). The protection of children's privacy is not an added compliance measure, but the architectural foundation of the app. Every feature is designed by asking first: "What data can we NOT collect?".
When the Family feature is active, sensitive data (profile names, exercise results, assigned homework) is encrypted with AES-256-GCM end-to-end encryption before being sent to the cloud. The group key is exchanged between family devices via RSA-2048. Not even the server can read the contents.
The app is intended for children aged 6โ11, used under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
The app saves locally: a random avatar (e.g. "Lion 42"), a game nickname (if changed by the user), exercise results, guided path progress, MatCoin balance, and homework codes. This data stays on the device and is deleted when the app is uninstalled.
If activated by a parent, it allows assigning homework and viewing results via the Firebase cloud service (Google LLC). Data is associated exclusively with an anonymous technical identifier randomly generated by the app (UUID) โ not linked to email, name, or device. Contents are protected with end-to-end encryption. Parent sections can be protected with a 4-digit parental PIN (local SHA-256 hash), synchronised across the group with AES-256-GCM encryption.
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics, activated exclusively after explicit parental consent. It collects only technical information about errors. No personal data or exercise results are sent.
On-device data is deleted when the app is uninstalled. Homework reports and assignments on Firebase are auto-deleted after 90 days. Family groups are retained until user-initiated deletion; inactive groups are auto-deleted after 365 days.
